The state’s first death related to vaping is confirmed by the Indiana Department of Health.

The patient is over 18-years-old. No additional information about the patient is being released at this time.

Health officials say the patient died from severe lung injuries linked to a history of using e-cigarettes or vaping.

According to health officials, Indiana is currently investigating 30 cases of severe lung injuries linked to vaping.

Most of these cases affect individuals between the ages of 16 and 29.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says more than 215 cases have been reported nationally, with more under investigation.
