A Jasper man is facing several preliminary charges after disturbance Thursday evening.

When responding to a reported domestic disturbance, Jasper Police found 28-year-old Devonte J. Chatman stumbling on a sidewalk around 7:50 pm.

According to police, Chatman had reportedly been drinking and damaged a residential fence.

He began yelling and wouldn’t obey officers’ commands.

Eventually, Chatman was taken to the ground and put in handcuffs. Police say he continued resisting arrest and was placed in a patrol car.

Chatman was booked into the Dubois County Security Center on preliminary misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement, and public intoxication.
