You can celebrate National Public Lands Day on Saturday, Sept. 28 by going to Patoka Lake’s Nature Center from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm to learn about and apply for volunteer opportunities at the property.

Patoka Lake seeks volunteers with diverse backgrounds. Annual needs are photographers, special-event assistants, carpenters, painters, campground hosts, and more.

The gate fee for entering Newton-Stewart State Recreation Area of Patoka Lake, which is located north of Wickliffe, on Highway 164, will be waived for all who plan to apply as volunteers on Sept. 28.
