On February 20th, 2024, at approximately 9:15 PM the Huntingburg Police Department was dispatched to the intersection of South Main Street and 4th Avenue in a reported two-vehicle accident with injury. Officers with the Huntingburg Police Department and deputies with the Dubois County Sheriffs Department arrived on the scene and found a blue Chevrolet Cruze off to the side of the Northbound Lane with substantial damage to the front of the vehicle and a white semi-truck in the Southbound Lane with damage to the front.

Due to damages to the Chevrolet Cruze, the driver was unable to get out of the vehicle. Huntingburg Fire Department arrived and began the process of extricating the driver from the vehicle. The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze was taken to Memorial Hospital where he was then flown to another hospital. The driver of the semi, identified as David France of Jasper, IN, refused medical services and was later released. South Main Street was cleared of debris and reopened.

The accident is still under investigation.

The Chevy Cruze was a total loss and was towed from the scene by Sternberg’s. The semi suffered disabling damages and was towed by Ruxer’s from the scene.
