The Dubois County Humane Society (DCHS) has appointed Kelly Eckerle-Dixon as its new Executive Director. Eckerle-Dixon, with a strong background in animal welfare and a deep-rooted passion for community service, brings a wealth of experience to her new role.

In her capacity as Executive Director, Eckerle-Dixon will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s operations, spearheading strategic initiatives such as the newly established Spay and Neuter Clinic, and advancing the DCHS mission of providing compassionate care and advocacy for animals across Dubois County.

Jordan Wehr, President of the Board of Directors, expressed excitement about Eckerle-Dixon’s appointment, citing her leadership as Shelter Manager since January 2021 and her unwavering dedication to animal welfare. The Board is confident in Eckerle-Dixon’s ability to lead DCHS to new heights and positively impact the community.

Eckerle-Dixon officially assumed her role as Executive Director on February 12, 2024. The DCHS Shelter is located at 426 Wernsing Road, Jasper, while the Spay and Neuter Clinic can be found at 509 W 9th St, Jasper.

Reflecting on her new position, Eckerle-Dixon expressed gratitude for the opportunity and her longstanding connection to DCHS. She highlighted the exciting developments at the shelter, including the recent opening of the Spay and Neuter Clinic and the upcoming 50th-anniversary celebration. Eckerle-Dixon is eager to contribute to the shelter’s growth and future success.
