In a recent post to the Tell City Police Department’s Facebook page, the department celebrated the dedication and service of Jim Alexander, a longtime member of the Reserve Division, during the annual Tell City Christmas Parade. Pictures shared on the page captured Jim leading the parade in the department’s police cruiser—a fitting tribute to his years of commitment to the community.

Jim Alexander has served the Tell City community for 13 years, contributing more than 3,000 hours of volunteer service and hundreds of hours of training. His dedication, driven by a servant’s heart rather than compensation, stands out at a time when recruitment and retention are significant challenges in law enforcement.

In addition to his police duties, Jim has been deeply involved in the community, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and faith-based organizations. His generosity and tireless efforts have left a lasting impression on those who know him, earning him widespread admiration and respect.

As the year comes to an end, so does Jim’s tenure with the Tell City Police Department Reserve Division. His retirement marks the close of a remarkable chapter, but his influence on the division and the community will be felt for years to come.

The department thanked Jim for his loyal and selfless service, quoting Henry David Thoreau: “An efficient and valuable man does what he can, whether the community pay him for it or not.”
