Jasper Police arrested a Ferdinand man Monday evening after responding to a report of a reckless driver.

On February 24, at approximately 4:41 p.m., officers were dispatched to 3rd Avenue after a caller reported a blue Dodge Ram pickup swerving on the roadway. Authorities located the vehicle near 9th and Newton Streets, observing multiple traffic infractions before initiating a stop near 13th and Newton Streets.

The driver, identified as 45-year-old Wesley Laake of Ferdinand, displayed signs of alcohol impairment. Following field sobriety tests, Laake was transported to Deaconess Memorial Hospital for a blood draw, which revealed a blood alcohol content of .254—more than three times the legal limit.
