Jasper Police arrested a Ferdinand man Monday evening after responding to a report of a reckless driver.

On February 24, at approximately 4:41 p.m., officers were dispatched to 3rd Avenue after a caller reported a blue Dodge Ram pickup swerving on the roadway. Authorities located the vehicle near 9th and Newton Streets, observing multiple traffic infractions before initiating a stop near 13th and Newton Streets.

The driver, identified as 45-year-old Wesley Laake of Ferdinand, displayed signs of alcohol impairment. Following field sobriety tests, Laake was transported to Deaconess Memorial Hospital for a blood draw, which revealed a blood alcohol content of .254—more than three times the legal limit.

Laake was taken into custody and lodged at the Dubois County Security Center. He faces multiple charges, including Operating While Intoxicated (Class C Misdemeanor), OWI Endangerment (Class A Misdemeanor), and OWI with a BAC over .15 (Class A Misdemeanor).
