The Martin County Alliance for Economic Growth and Community Action Leading Loogootee have been chosen to take part in the 2025 IU Rural Placemaking Studio project. This initiative partners Indiana University students and faculty with rural communities to improve public spaces through creative art and design efforts.
As part of the collaboration, the Martin County Alliance will build on last year’s partnership with IU by developing new business signage for Main Street in Shoals. Community Action Leading Loogootee will work on creating interpretive signs for the town’s seven historic Mesker façade buildings, laying the groundwork for a future walking and driving tour highlighting the area’s distinctive 19th- and early 20th-century architecture.
