Volunteers are invited to take part in an invasive plant removal effort at Ferdinand State Forest on Wednesday, April 15, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. EDT. The event will focus on pulling garlic mustard, a non-native plant species that can harm native ecosystems.

Organizers say the task is simple but requires participants to be able to bend and gently pull the plants from the ground. No prior experience is needed, as experts will be available to help volunteers identify and properly remove the invasive species.

Participants are asked to drive down the hill to the first shelter house and come prepared with work gloves, long pants, and sturdy shoes.

The event is co-hosted by the Friends of Ferdinand State Forest and the Invasive Species Awareness Coalition of Dubois County. RSVPs are not required, and additional information is available by calling 812-482-1171 extension 3 or by emailing isacduboiscounty@gmail.com.
