Registration is now open for a special 5K run and walk celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, scheduled for Saturday, June 13, in downtown Washington.

The free community event, sponsored by Daviess Community Hospital, will begin and end at the historic Daviess County Courthouse. Check-in and on-site registration will take place from 8 to 8:30 a.m., with the race starting at 9 a.m. and wrapping up around 10 a.m.

Participants will follow a unique route along Washington’s historic brick streets, passing local landmarks and historical markers that highlight the city’s heritage. A special photo opportunity at the courthouse will also be available to mark the milestone celebration.

The event is open to all ages and fitness levels. Organizers say the first 100 people to register will receive swag bags, while the first 75 finishers will earn commemorative medals.

Community members are encouraged to take part, whether running or walking, as a way to celebrate local pride and a significant national milestone.
