Ed Cole Announces Bid for Dubois County Council District 1 Seat Broadband Expansion Brings High-Speed Internet to Underserved Areas in Pike County Job Fair Scheduled for Jasper Rubber Employees at VU-Jasper Lincoln Amphitheatre to Close 2026 Season with Beach Boys Tribute Area Appointees Selected for State Boards and Commissions

A major broadband expansion is set to improve connectivity across Pike County, with Spectrum announcing plans to extend its fiber network to more than 2,650 additional homes and businesses in previously unserved or underserved areas.

The project is part of a multi-year rural construction initiative backed by more than $7 billion in private investment. The effort aims to add over 100,000 miles of fiber infrastructure nationwide and bring high-speed internet access to more than 1.7 million new locations.

Company officials say the expansion will deliver faster and more reliable internet service to rural communities, including symmetrical and multi-gigabit speeds. The upgrade is expected to support both residential users and small businesses, enhancing opportunities for economic growth and improved access to digital services.

State leaders say the investment will have a meaningful local impact. Mark Messmer noted the expansion is expected to strengthen business development and overall economic vitality in Pike County by improving access to high-speed broadband.

Spectrum Internet plans in the area will offer speeds up to 1 gigabit per second, with starting speeds of 500 Mbps. The service includes features such as no data caps, no contracts, and no modem fees. The company is also working toward future upgrades that will bring even faster upload and download speeds across its network.

In addition to internet service, customers will have options to bundle mobile, television, and voice services. Company officials say these bundled offerings are designed to provide cost savings and improved convenience for users.
