A Loogootee man is facing a felony charge following an investigation by the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
Authorities arrested 32-year-old Trevor Moffatt on Tuesday, March 31, after serving a residential search warrant in Loogootee. The arrest stems from an investigation that began in February 2026 after law enforcement received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip indicated that a user had allegedly uploaded child sex abuse material through a social media or cloud-based platform.
Investigators followed up on the report through legal channels and confirmed the allegations, ultimately identifying a suspect in Loogootee. A search warrant was obtained through the Martin County Prosecutor’s Office, allowing officers to collect and examine electronic devices at the residence.
Following the execution of the warrant and an interview with Moffatt, he was taken into custody and transported to the Martin County Sheriff’s Department.
Moffatt has been charged with one count of possession of child sex abuse material involving bestiality, a Level 5 felony under Indiana law. Authorities say forensic examinations of the seized electronic devices are ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
The Indiana ICAC Task Force, which is overseen by Indiana State Police, is a multi-agency group focused on investigating and prosecuting individuals who use the internet to exploit children.
Officials encourage anyone who suspects online exploitation or solicitation involving children to report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children or contact local law enforcement.
