Earlier today, April 21, 2026, Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott announced Trooper Kayla Denk-Mundy has been selected as the 2025 “Trooper of the District.” Trooper Denk-Mundy was recognized today in Indianapolis by Superintendent Scott, along with other Troopers who were selected by their respective districts. “This honor is bestowed upon a deserving Trooper that exemplifies the Department’s high standards and expectations as related to the overall mission,” emphasized Lieutenant Brock Werne, Jasper District Commander, “and a Trooper’s professionalism, integrity, well-rounded work ethic, service to the community both on and off duty, and assigned responsibilities are just a few areas taken into consideration when nominated.”

Trooper Denk-Mundy graduated from Jasper High School in 2012. She is currently enrolled in online College through American Military University for a Bachelor’s in Homeland Security. Trooper Denk-Mundy is a two-year veteran of the Indiana State Police. Trooper Denk-Mundy is currently enlisted in the Indiana National Guard and holds the rank of Staff Sergeant. In December 2023, Trooper Denk-Mundy graduated from the 84th Indiana State Police Recruit Class and was assigned to the Jasper Post. Trooper Denk-Mundy is a member of the Mobile Field Force, a Background Investigator, and Drug Recognition Expert.  Trooper Denk-Mundy had 281 criminal arrests, 21 DUI arrests, 743 traffic contacts, and had multiple other various public services.

Trooper Kayla Denk-Mundy resides in Dubois County with her Husband.
