On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott presented Trooper Leah Schnell with the Jasper District Top OWI Award for her efforts in keeping Indiana roadways safe by apprehending 30 impaired drivers in 2025. 

Trooper Schnell is a three-year veteran of the Indiana State Police. Trooper Schnell graduated from the 82nd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in June of 2022. After graduating from the Recruit Academy, Schnell was assigned to the Jasper Post, where she has primarily patrolled Orange County. Schnell also serves on the Jasper District Honor Guard Team.

Trooper Schnell has an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement from Vincennes University. Trooper Schnell is a Drug Recognition Expert.

Indiana State Police Jasper District Commander Lieutenant Brock Werne says he couldn’t be prouder of Trooper Schnell’s commitment to making our communities safer for all of us. 

Trooper Schnell primarily patrols Orange County.
