A traffic stop in Crawford County Thursday morning ended with the recovery of a stolen vehicle and two Martinsville men behind bars.

Shortly before 11 am Thursday a Trooper with the Indiana  State Police was patrolling State Road 37 in Crawford County when he observed a passenger car traveling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed.

The trooper pulled over the vehicle on State Road  37 near Governor’s Trace Road after his radar clocked the car traveling 71 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone. During the traffic stop police learned that the passenger car was entered as a stolen vehicle from the Martinsville area by the Martinsville Police Department, and that the driver, 35-year old John Hendrickson of Martinsville, was driving with a suspended driver’s license through Indiana, and had a prior conviction for the same offense.

The Trooper also discovered that Hendrickson’s passenger, 34-year old Ronald Burress III also of Martinsville, was wanted on a warrant through the Indiana Department of Corrections for Escape.

Hendrickson was charged with Theft / Receiving Stolen Property, and Driving While Suspended with a Prior Conviction, while Burress was served with his felony escape warrant. Both were taken into custody, without incident, and lodged in the Crawford County Jail.
