As a giving circle over the past 4 years, Dubois County Emerging Leaders has generated over $23,000 and granted these efforts towards 18 organizations in Dubois County.

Josh Gunselman, a member of the group introduced Schroeder who explained how  philanthropy ignites the growth of the Jasper community to the group.  Schroeder shared GAB’s connection with the giving circle.

During his presentation Schroeder encouraged those interested to join the group for the growth of Dubois County and becoming an active community member.

last night a surprise giving activity took place where participants in designated groups decided on a non-profit organization that would be the recipient of a thousand dollars of which Mentors for Youth was chosen.

This was an unexpected activity for potential and current members to use actual funds from Emerging Leaders. Gunselman says engaging in this type of group involvement is one of the many benefits of the giving circle.

Gunselman is with Dubois County Probation and is also part of the Dubois County Emerging Leaders steering committee. Throughout the event he and other committee members networked with potential members and stated if there is an interest members can pay when they are ready.

Last year Next Act Inc. was granted with $5,000. Representing Next Act last night was Leslie Hamby who talked about about how Emerging Leaders was among the donations that helped Next Act purchase and renovate the historic Astra Theatre in downtown Jasper.

A member of the Emerging Leaders committee, Nichole Faulkner, explains the process of the year end selection.

Faulkner says the organization’s goal is to grow and continue impacting the community as a group.
