A St. Anthony man who is alleged to have stolen a vehicle while in Perry County was placed under arrest after authorities say he was caught driving the care that was reported stolen in Warrick County Monday afternoon.

Indiana State Police say at around 5 pm yesterday, troopers were alerted by Indiana State Police Dispatch of a vehicle theft that had just occurred in Bristow and were told the vehicle was possibly traveling west on I-64.

Police say 50-year old Steven Wiley of St. Anthony is believed to have stolen a 2010 Chevy Cobalt. They say at around 5:45 pm, a trooper spotted the Cobalt on Interstate 64 and stopped the vehicle near the 33 mile-marker. Police say Wiley was taken into custody without incident.

Police also learned that Wiley was driving on a suspended license. He was taken to and booked into the Warrick County Jail on a Level 6 Felony count of Vehicle Theft and a Class A Misdemeanor count of Driving While Suspended.

Indiana State Police were assisted by the Perry County Sheriff’s Department.
