On Thursday Ferdinand police officers responded to the area of the Dollar General Store at 1801 Main St, Ferdinand to a report of a possible vehicle accident that may have involved a vehicle fire. Officers found a vehicle that suffered a mechanical failure and ran slightly off the road at the entrance to the business. A female driver entered the business, but she fled out the back door a short time later.

The vehicle in question, a red 1994 Chevrolet 4 wheel drive truck, was found to be a stolen vehicle. The vehicle had been stolen earlier in the day from a residence on Co Rd 190 N east of Jasper.

Thursday night Dubois County Sheriffs department arrested 18 year old Clara Whippo of Jasper in connection with the stolen truck. Officers received information from the public and were able to locate Whippo.

Whippo is being held on charges of Auto Theft and Residential Entry.
