The line-up for the eighth annual Ferdinand Folk Festival was announced Friday night at the Half Way to the Folk Fest Celebration in Ferdinand.

The free music art and environment festival is anchored by outstanding musical performances in a continuing tradition since its inception in 2010.  The line-up features 7 performances with a variety of folk inspired music on the main stage along with performances on the market stage.

The 2017 Ferdinand Folk Festival headliner will be Joshua Davis.  Recently making a national splash with his success on the voice, Joshua Davis is no stranger to the Ferdinand Folk Festival—in the 2010 inaugural year, he accompanied Rachael Davis.  Whether speaking or singing, the voice of Davis is a disarming instrument.

Prior to Joshua Davis taking the stage, the folk fest will open with a three piece Kentucky string band, Carrie Lyn and the String Getup.  Followed by the southern sirens who were the featured performers at this past Friday’s Half Way to the Folk Fest Celebration held at the Legion in Ferdinand.

Following the Southern Sirens will be Jeffery Martin with a storytelling musical style reminiscent of Harry Chapin and John Prine.  Next on the line-up will Tim Grimm and the Family Band.   In the spirit of Woody Guthrey, Grimm is an Indiana storyteller and troubadour.

The fifth main stage performer will be Rachael Davis, who was a crowd favorite at the inaugural folk fest.  Along with her band she is known for her expressive and explosive voice.  Justin Johnson will bring Nashville-based roots blues and Americana to the early evening of the fest.  Johnson is the Slidestock International Slide Guitar Champion.

As mentioned the Ferdinand folk fest will end with the headliner:  Joshua Davis.   The eighth annual family and environmentally-friendly Ferdinand Folk fest will be held on Saturday, September 16th in Ferdinand’s beautiful 18th Street Park.  There will be a variety of food, art, and environmental education booths, workshops and children’s programming to compliment the day’s music.

The fest committee also announced and thanks the co-presenting sponsors for the fest:  best home furnishings of Ferdinand and Moore music and guitars of Evansville.  Masterbrand Cabinets are sponsors of the children’s activities and headline artist.
