A Huntingburg man was placed under arrest early Monday evening after authorities accused him of the recent battering of a young child.

Around 6:30 last night officers with the Huntingburg Police Department learned of a possible battery victim in the area of the Huck’s gas station.

Police say they located the victim near Fifth and Jackson streets and were originally told that the child’s injuries were the result of the child falling.

Upon further investigation, police felt that the injuries were consistent with the child being battered.

The child was taken to Memorial Hospital in Jasper and authorities determined that 21-year old Gage LeMay of Huntingburg was the one who battered the 2-year-old.

LeMay taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center in Jasper on a Level 6 felony count of battery on a child 14-years or younger.
