A mistaken gas pedal for a brake pedal resulted in a collision at the intersection of 14th St. and Main Tuesday afternoon.

28-year-old Jimmy Ahrndt of Huntingburg was traveling eastbound along 14th st. in a 2000 Ford Explorer approaching an intersection with Main while 28-year-old Ezekiel Allstott of French Lick who was driving a utility ford Eco-line van, was traveling northbound on Main Street approaching the intersection with 14th St. Allstott’s Ford Eco-line had a through intersection while Ahrndt’s Explorer was approaching a stop sign.

Ahrndt said that he was applying his brakes to stop and believes that his foot was partially on the gas pedal so as he was applying his brakes he was also pressing the gas. Ahrndt’s 2000 Ford Explorer drove through the intersection striking the driver side of the Utility Van.

No Injuries were reported. The Utility van was estimated to have had 3,000 dollars worth of damages while the Ford Explorer had to be towed from the scene.
