Jasper’s Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center recently announced the recipients of scholarships:

The first of two recipients of the Kathleen M. Tempel Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $1,250 was awarded to Jessica Bertke. Jessica will graduate from Heritage Hills High School this year and will be attending the University of Southern Indiana to major in nursing.

The second in the amount of $1,250 was awarded to Ethan Wagler. Ethan will graduate from Barr-Reeve High School this year and will be attending the University of Southern Indiana to major in nursing.

The Tonya Heim Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $1,500 was awarded to Catina Cannon. Catina lives in Loogootee and is a Registered Nurse at Memorial Home Care. She is currently attending Western Governors University working toward her BSN degree.

Scholarships that are funded by grants from the Dubois County Community Foundation include the:

St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship in the amount of $800 was awarded to McKenzie Young. McKenzie will graduate from Southridge High School this year and will be attending the University of Evansville to major in exercise science with the ultimate goal to earn a doctorate of physical therapy degree.

The Doris A. Ackerman and Family Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $850 is awarded to Sarah Pund. Sarah graduated from Forest Park High School in 2017 and is currently enrolled in the nursing program at Indiana State University.

The Mildred E. Schwinghammer Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $1,400 was awarded to Katelyn Sander. She will graduate from Jasper High School this year and will be attending the University of Evansville to major in nursing.

The first of two recipients for the Mabel L. Kuebler Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $1,500 was awarded to Morgan Tretter. Morgan will graduate from Forest Park High School this year and will be attending the University of Southern Indiana to major in nursing.

The second recipient went to Mackenzie Zehr. Mackenzie will graduate from Northeast Dubois High School this year and will be attending Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis to major in nursing.

The Memorial Hospital Foundation awarded five $1,000 scholarships, one in each of the counties in the Memorial Hospital Service Areas:

The Daviess County recipient is Annie Graber. She will graduate first in her class from Barr-Reeve and will attend the University of Evansville to major in physical therapy.

The Dubois County recipient is Mitchell Mehringer. Mitchell graduated from Jasper High School in 2015 and will be a senior at Indiana University. He is currently a part-time EMT at Memorial Hospital and plans to become a physician.

The Martin County recipient is Holly Self. Holly graduated from Shoals High School in 2015 and is currently enrolled in the Vincennes University Jasper Center Nursing Program. Holly is a nurse intern in Women and Infant Services at Memorial Hospital.

The Pike County recipient is Shelbi Pipes, She will soon graduate from Pike Central High School and plans to attend Indiana State University and major in nursing.

And the Spencer County recipient is Meredith Balbach. She graduated from Heritage Hills High School in 2015 and w as class valedictorian. She will be a senior at Notre Dame University next year and plans to become a physician.

And in conjunction with the Health Occupation Science of America program, the Memorial Hospital Foundation HOSA Grant in the amount of $1,000 was awarded to Emily Kuhlman. Emily will graduate from Jasper High School this year and plans to attend the University of Louisville to major in Public Health.

And the Betty J. Hoffman Scholarship in the amount of $4,000 was awarded to Merris Egloff.  Merris will graduate from Jasper High School this year and plans to attend the University of Evansville to major in neuroscience and to become a physician assistant.
