A Pike County man was arrested at a Jasper residence Sunday afternoon after authorities say he tried to hide raw marijuana before eventually swallowing the substance while police were serving a warrant on a Jasper man.

Around 1:30 Sunday afternoon, officers with the Jasper Police Department went to a home located along the 2300 Block of Sunset Drive in an attempt to locate 22-year old Eric McNabb of Jasper who was wanted on a warrant for theft.

Upon gaining entry into the residence, officers found McNabb and 31-year old Jordan Earls of Otwell in the basement of the home

While conducting a pat-down on Earls police say a strong smell of raw marijuana was coming from his breath.

Officers observed marijuana residue in Earls mouth. When told to spit the substance out police say Earls pulled away from one Officer and was detained by two others.

They say Earls refused to spit the substance out and eventually swallowed it.

Earls was taken to Memorial Hospital for medical clearance then taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center for Obstruction Of Justice, Resisting Law Enforcement and False Reporting.
