A death investigation is underway in Spencer County after police say a woman was killed and a man was flown to a hospital after an apparent domestic dispute.

Indiana State Police at the Jasper Post says the incident happened Wednesday afternoon at a home located along the 6200 block of North Highland Road in Grandview.

Police say at around 1 pm central time the Spencer County 911 Dispatch Center received an emergency call from the North Highland Road address in Grandview reporting an ongoing domestic dispute.

A short time later Indiana State Police Troopers, Spencer County Sheriff’s Deputies and Rockport City Police Officers responded to the residence where they discovered 1 adult male who required immediate medical attention.

The male subject was flown via helicopter to an undisclosed hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Officers also discovered an adult female at the residence who was confirmed deceased by Spencer County Coroner Rachel Gentry.

Indiana State Police Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators remained on scene for nearly nine hours processing evidence and piecing together the circumstances of this tragedy.

Police say death notification has been made and an autopsy has been scheduled for Today.

In a post on the Indiana State Police Jasper Post Facebook page, Public Information officer Sergeant Robbie Lambert says he is hopeful he will be able to release the name of the deceased and the cause of death this evening.
