A Huntingburg man is behind bars and accused of domestic battery, attempted robbery, and other offenses.

Around 11:20 Monday morning, the Huntingburg Police Department responded to a report of a battery in progress in the city.

Officers located a woman with visible injuries. She was evaluated in the back of an ambulance but was not transported to the hospital.

The woman alleged 33-year-old Walter M. Delgado struck her and attempted to grab her wallet when children were present.

According to police, the woman is the protected person in a protective order against Delgado.

Officials say the woman has been investigating alleged violations of that order by Delgado since late July.

Delgado is booked into the Dubois County Security Center on preliminary charges of Level 3 Felony Attempted Robbery, Level 5 Felony Domestic Battery, Level 6 Felony Intimidation, and Misdemeanor Invasion of Privacy.
