A Jasper church is hosting a Church Security Planning and Intruder Response training program in a few weeks.

Leaders of Shiloh Methodist Church say they’re holding the training program after seeing an increase in church violence nationwide.

The church leaders say violent incidents at churches have increased more than 2,000% percent since 1999 and increased 590% percent since 2005.

This training course will help churches identify suspicious people, empower church volunteers, lockdown facilities, how to respond to intruders and much more.

The training program takes place on Friday, September 13th and Saturday, September 14th at Shiloh United Methodist Church on IN-56.

This course is open-invitation, so everyone is welcome to attend.
