Governor Holcomb recently signed a bill to help keep workers on highways safe.

According to the most recent Federal Highway Administration statistics, 956 people were killed in work zone accidents nationwide in 2021.

In an effort to reduce work zone accidents and fatalities Governor Holcomb signed into law on May 30th a new highway safety bill that will create a pilot program to install speed detection cameras in Indiana work zones.

The cameras will take photos of the license plates of motorists exceeding the speed limit by at least 11 miles per hour.  A ticket will then be mailed to the address on the vehicle registration.  The first offense will result in a warning then the second offense will result in a $75 fine and all additional offenses will result in $150 fines.

This landmark legislation to make all Hoosiers safer is the result of years of hard work by many Indiana leaders.
