In a social media post on Monday, the Warrick County Sheriff’s Office announced that Reserve Deputy Dale Naylor had been selected as the 2023-2024 American Legion Department of Indiana Law Officer of the Year Lewis Schmidt Award.

Deputy Naylor was nominated by his peers and was selected for the law Officer of the Year award at the Boonville American Legion Post 200 earlier this year. He then advanced to the state level, competing against 12 other law enforcement officers who had been chosen as the law officer of the year for their districts. The award ceremony was held this past Saturday in Indianapolis as part of the American Legion Department of Indiana State Convention.

Deputy Naylor is a reserve deputy, meaning that he volunteers his time to serve the Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Warrick County. He is no stranger to service, however, as he is a retired educator and administrator in the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation and served many years with Knight Township Fire Department before joining the law enforcement ranks.
