Southeast Dubois County School Corporation is introducing a new initiative at Cedar Crest Intermediate (CCI) aimed at addressing challenges faced by 5th and 6th-grade girls. The program, known as ROX (Ruling Our eXperiences), is set to launch in February as a 20-week evidence-based course designed to build confidence and resilience.

The need for such a program is underscored by findings from the 2023 Girls’ Index, which revealed a significant decline in self-perception and a rise in sadness and depression among 5th and 6th-grade girls. Additionally, girls’ confidence drops sharply between 5th and 9th grade. In response, Southeast Dubois educators have committed to addressing these challenges head-on by implementing ROX, which has been successful nationwide in helping girls take control of their relationships, experiences, decisions, and futures.

The program will be conducted during the school day with groups of 10 to 15 girls, creating a supportive environment for participants to grow and thrive.

Parents and guardians interested in learning more about ROX can watch a short informational video here. For further inquiries, contact Haylee Hoffman at haylee.hoffman@sedubois.k12.in.us or by phone at 812-510-3935.

This program is open to all 6th-grade girls and aims to foster a generation of confident, empowered young women.
