Street Commissioner Jim Holmes recently took to social media to express gratitude for the community’s overwhelming support during recent winter storms and cleanup efforts.

Holmes highlighted the dedication of the Tell City Streets and Trash Department, emphasizing the crew’s teamwork and care for the city. He noted that despite serving approximately 3,500 households, only a handful of complaints were received during the storms, underscoring the crew’s hard work and commitment.

Holmes also expressed appreciation for the thoughtful gestures from community members, who provided snacks, drinks, and even pizza as tokens of gratitude. He acknowledged the learning curve associated with the team’s first major weather event but praised the crew for their outstanding performance in difficult conditions.

Concluding his message, Holmes thanked those who engaged with the department, whether through social media interactions, calls, or personal visits. He emphasized the importance of community support, saying it motivates the department to keep delivering quality service.

Holmes’s heartfelt message serves as a reminder of the strong connection between city workers and the residents they serve.
