Albert Astrike, 83, of Jasper, passed away on Thursday, July 17th at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. Albert was born February 25, 1942, in Bretzville to William and Hilda (Bretz) Astrike. He married Elaine Helming on July 29, 1978, in St. Ferdinand Church.

Albert was a graduate of Springs Valley High School and Vincennes University’s Jasper Center. He retired from JOFCO, where he worked for 33 years as a supervisor in the finish department.

He was a member of Dubois St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Dubois County Sportsmen’s Club, QUGA, Schnellville Conservation Club, St. Anthony Conservation Club, Jasper DeutscherVerein Club, and Dubois County Museum.

Albert is survived by his wife, Elaine Astrike; brothers, James (Kathy) Astrike of Noblesville and Edward Astrike of Indianapolis; a sister, Lucinda Freihaut of Boonville; sisters-in-law, Donna Potter of Jasper, Mary Alice (Rod) Zink of Ferdinand, and Ann (Paul) Metzger of Louisville; brother-in-law, Edward (Connie) Helming of Birdseye; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by both his parents; half-brother, William Astrike Jr.; half-sister, Mabel Krodel; and a brother-in-law, Bud Potter.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 21st at Noon at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Burial will follow in St. Ferdinand Church Cemetery. Friends may call at Becher Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Dubois St. Peter’s United Church of Christ or a favorite charity.
