Donald E. “Donnie” Knies, age 71, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 5:59 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at home surrounded by family.

Donnie was born in Huntingburg, Indiana, on January 27, 1954, to Earl and Delphine (Heldman) Knies. He married Sharon Schlachter on August 24, 1975, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.

He was a 1972 graduate of Jasper High School. 

He was an Operations Tech and Mechanic for ANR Pipeline for 31 years.  He was known for being a skilled mechanic and body repairman.

Donnie was a member of Redemption Christian Church in Jasper, Indiana.

Surviving is his wife, Sharon Knies, Jasper, IN, two children, Adam (Jill) Knies, Jasper, IN, and Shawna (Jason) Verkamp, Celestine, IN, two grandsons, Ty and Tryp Verkamp, three sisters, Audrey Haas, Carmel, IN, Valerie (Brian) Thompson, Celestine, IN, Sarah (Brian) Kidd, Poynette, WI, one brother, Stan (Dino) Knies, Jasper, IN, and nieces and nephews.  

Preceding him in death are his parents, two brothers-in-law, Skip Place and Cal Haas, and one nephew, Isaac Frank.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
