Under the direction of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute the Dubois County Substance Abuse Council has awarded over 21-thousand 500-dollars in grant funding for applications submitted in September 2015.

The Governor’s Commission mandates Substance Abuse Councils to provide funding in three categories: Treatment/Intervention, Prevention/Education, and Criminal Justice Services.

The council’s Executive Committee awarded grant applications in the Prevention/Education category for $6,671.76 to TRI-CAP for medication collections, Northeast Dubois High School and Forest Park Jr/Sr High School for drug screens, Northeast Dubois Post Prom for after prom activities, Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center for critical incident stress management training, Southern Hills for breathalyzers at group homes, and Crisis Connection for Natural Helpers.

The funds the council awards for the programs are derived from countermeasure fees that are assessed by the Dubois County courts to alcohol and drug offenders as part of the court costs.
