Early Saturday morning, just after 1 a.m.  Dubois County Sheriff’s Deputy Martin Loya was on a routine patrol when he noticed a vehicle overturned along the east side of the roadway on US 231 south of 100 S.

There was smoke coming form the vehicle and the driver was trapped inside. The driver was identified as 25- year old Fernando Rodriguez Flores of Jasper. Deputy Loya contacted the Jasper Fire Department to assist however officers arrived on scene and were able to maneuver Flores out of the vehicle prior to the fire department arrival.

Flores was then taken to the Memorial Hospital for medical clearance. Upon further investigation Flores was found to be under the influence of alcohol and tested at a .24 BAC. He was then taken into custody and transported and lodged into the Dubois County Security Center.

Jasper Police were assisted by the Dubois County Sheriff’s Dept, Indiana State Police and Jasper Fire Department.
