Local authorities have responded to the scene where shots were reported to have been fired in a rural area of eastern Dubois County.

The incident occurred around 3 o’clock this afternoon. According to scanner traffic a gunshot shot was fired in the area near Pine Ridge Road just north of State Road 64 east of St. Anthony.

Dubois County dispatch has confirmed that one person believed to have been a county road worker was injured in the incident. Details on that person’s condition are not available at this time but Memorial Hospital EMS is standing by.

Deputies with the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department and Troopers with the Indiana State Police are reportedly searching for a suspect in an area of 4700 Pine Ridge Road.

In the meantime nearby roadways are being shut down and residents are asked to stay clear of the area.
