A Newburg man was sentenced as a repeat offender for possessing sexually explicit materials involving minors in Federal Court.
US Attorney Josh Minkler announced that 26 year old Joshua Bolin Newburgh, was sentenced to ten years imprisonment by U.S. District Judge Richard L. Young, which is to be followed by a term of fifteen years supervised release.
In January 2017, law enforcement executed a search warrant on Bolin’s residence in Newburgh. Inside his bedroom, law enforcement found a computer memory card that contained child pornographic video and image files. Bolin received an enhanced sentence based on a 2015 felony conviction for possession of child pornography in Warrick County.
US Attorney Minkler said in regards to Bolins case that “Possessing sexually explicit material involving children further perpetuates the victimization of our most vulnerable citizens,” and that “Those who chose to take advantage of children, particularly repeat offenders, will be a priority to his office and should expect to face the hammer of federal prosecution.”
According to Assistant United States Attorney Kyle M. Sawa, Bolin must also pay a $5,000 fine.
