The National Weather Service confirms an EF 1 tornado touched down shortly after 8 CDT Friday night in Spencer County.

Preliminary damage results show it was 50 yards wide, reached speeds of 90 miles per hour, and traveled just over one mile southeast of Gentryville.

NWS officials say the tornado snapped several trees along County Road 1250 North and the railroad tracks, about one mile west of US 231.

The tornado tracked about a mile northeast and impacted a residence on County Road 275 East.

At this residence, a large barn was moved about 20 feet off its foundation. At the property next to this barn, a large tree was snapped at its base and fell onto the house. The cornfield next to the house had some swirl marks as well.

No injuries were reported.
