Police took a Jasper man into custody after they say he was caught drinking alcohol in the aisle of a local grocery store.

Jasper Police were called to the north side Walmart at 3:05 pm about this incident. JPD says 38-year-old Jonathan Holt had opened a bottle of Captain Morgan and tasted it before trying to leave the store without paying for it. Holt was detained by store personnel before police arrived.

Holt was booked into the Dubois County Security Center. He’s charged with Class A misdemeanors for theft and mischief.
