Daniel A. “Cotton” Remke, 82 of Ferdinand died Saturday January 2nd in Brookside Village Retirement Community in Jasper. He was born February 17, 1933 in Ferdinand to Benno & Philomena “Minnie” (Schaeffer) Remke. He married Peggy Schneiders on May 18, 1957 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Ferdinand. She preceded him in death on March 18, 1995.

Surviving are one daughter, Jean (Jay) Seidl of Jasper, one son, Tim (Susan) Remke of Tell City. 2 grandchildren, Ryan & Rhett Baumeister, one great-granddaughter, Lydia Baumeister. One sister, Shirley Remke of Ferdinand.

Daniel retired from DMI Furniture in 1996. He was a member of Saint Ferdinand Parish, Ferdinand American Legion Post 124. He was an avid baseball fan, especially the Cincinnati Reds. He also was an avid IU basketball fan. He played for the Ferdinand Cardinals, and played baseball in the Army in Panama. He enjoyed playing sheephead.

Funeral services 10:00 AM Wednesday January 6th in Saint Henry Catholic Church, burial with military graveside rites by Ferdinand Legion Post 124 to follow in Saint Ferdinand Catholic Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8:00 PM Tuesday & 7 to 9:30 AM Wednesday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity.
