Rob Gutgsell has been selected as the new assistant director in charge of operations for the Jasper Park’s and Recreation Department.

The 41-year old Jasper native is a 1992 graduate of Jasper High School and lives in Jasper with his wife Elizabeth and son Robert.

Gutgsell holds a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Management for Ball State University. He has been the assistant property manager at Patoka Lake since 2003. Prior to that, he worked at Fort Harrison State Park near Indianapolis as a maintenance repair technician and laborer.

He was selected from about 25 applicants for the position.

Gutgsell who’s hiring was approved by the Jasper Park Board Tuesday afternoon succeeds Mike Oeding, the long-time Jasper park assistant director who passed away back in August of last year.

Gutgsell’s appointment is effective February 1st.
