The Friends of Otwell Elementary have opened a waiting list for the charter school the group plans to establish in the fall of this year.

The group formed in the summer of 2015 after the Pike County School Corp. announced Otwell Elementary will close at the end of this school year.

The group plans to keep a school in Otwell and so far is on track. Friends of Otwell Elementary members are waiting to hear if Ball State University will authorize the charter school and should receive notification by early April. Group president Mike Houtsch anticipates an authorization. The charter school would be located on Otwell Community Center property.

The group wants to get an idea of how many students will attend the charter school, which will be called Otwell Miller Academy, and is asking interested parents to place their children on the wait list.  The list can be found at: www.docs.google.com/forms.
