Eleanor “Elle” Hassfurther, 92, of Ferdinand, passed away, Friday, April 22, 2016, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. She was born June 19, 1923 in Ferdinand to Henry and Veronica “Frona” (Hoge) Hoing. She married Roman J. Hassfurther on February 11, 1956 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1984.

Eleanor was a seamstress and a homemaker. She was a member of Saint Ferdinand Church Parish and its Daughters of Isabella. She was a member of Ferdinand Senior Citizens. Eleanor was an avid quilter and enjoyed gardening of flowers and plants.

Eleanor is survived by two brothers, Harold Hoing and companion Carolyn Winkler, James E. (Hilda) Hoing all of Ferdinand; one sister, Ruth J. Meyer of Huntingburg; several nieces and nephews. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Roman.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8:00 PM and Monday from 7-9:30 AM at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.

Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Henry Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Ferdinand Church Cemetery.
