James J. Seger Sr., 93 of Mariah Hill died Wednesday April 27th in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born June 10, 1922 in Mariah Hill to William John & Mary (Humbert) Seger. He married Ernestine Gogel on November 8, 1941 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dale. She preceded him in death on January 19, 1978.

James was a self-employed farmer & Retired from Mobel Inc. in Ferdinand. He was a member of Mary Help Of Christians Church in Mariah Hill. He was a WWII veteran and served in both the Asiatic & European Theatres. He was a member of the 3rd Battalion 161st infantry. He enjoyed farming, gardening and animals.

Surviving are 2 sons, Jim Jr. (Marilyn) Seger of Ferdinand, & William J. “Bill” Seger of Mariah Hill, 2 daughters, Mary (Dave) Rickelman of Ferdinand & Judith “Judy” Seger of Mariah Hill. 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Herbert & Thomas Seger and a sister, Juletta Keller.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM CDT Monday in Mary Help Of Christians Church in Mariah Hill with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 3 to 7:00 PM Sunday & 8 to 9:00 AM Monday at the church.
