A Loogootee man was placed under arrest on Wednesday after he was accused of stalking a female while in possession of a deadly weapon as well as invading her privacy.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says the female victim came to the county sheriffs office to report the possible harassment, stalking, and violations of a protective order.

She told authorities that a protective order had been issued through Martin County where she lives. Deputies began an investigation and were starting on some follow up.

Shortly afterward the victim left the sheriff’s department. She was notified that the suspect, 38 year old Jonathon Taylor of Loogootee, was in an area where she works on the North side of Jasper keeping an eye on the business.

Deputies say she was near the Indiana State Police Post in Jasper at the time she found out he was in the area and sought safe shelter at the police post.

Minutes later Taylor arrived at a business parking lot across the street from the post. He was contacted by an officer with the Jasper City Police Department who had been dispatched to assist in the case. Taylor was found to be armed with a 9mm handgun and a search of a vehicle revealed an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle. Deputies say both firearms were loaded.

Taylor was arrested for Stalking while armed with a deadly weapon, a Level 4 Felony and a Class A Misdemeanor count of Invasion of Privacy.
