An accident in Jasper early Tuesday afternoon ended with the arrest of a person from Illinois on drug possession charges.

Jasper Police say just after a quarter after 1 Tuesday afternoon, 46-year old Kelly Wright of Elkville, IL was exiting the parking lot of the St Vincent DePaul Store heading south on Meridian Road on the city’s southeast side while a northbound vehicle driven by 69-year old Carolyn Berger of Dale was northbound on Meridian approaching the St Vincent DePaul parking lot.

Police say the two drivers did not see either one and collided with one another on Meridian Road.

Police cited Berger with Failure to Yield the Right of Way while an investigation by Jasper Police led to the discovery of drugs in Wright’s possession.

Wright was charged with Class A Misdemeanor counts of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia.
