Mildred M. Fischer, age 99, of Huntingburg, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at The Waters of Huntingburg.

Mildred Fischer719She was born June 8, 1917, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Leo and Louise (Lewis) Dearing. She married Christian J. Fischer on June 23, 1937, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. Mrs. Fischer was a homemaker and worked in the housekeeping department at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality, and the Daughters of Isabella. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Christian J. Fischer, who passed away September 12, 1989; one son, Gary Alan Fischer; one grandson, Adam Fischer; two brothers, Charles “Bud” Dearing and Leo “Jr.” Dearing; and two sisters, Evelyn Stone Byers and Barbara Ellis.

Surviving are one daughter, Marlene (Paul) Ralph of Haubstadt; seven sons, Paul Fischer of Newburgh, James Fischer of Evansville, C. Michael Fischer of Grove City, Florida, Roger (Pat) Fischer of Huntingburg, Stephen (Judy) Fischer of Huntingburg, Dan (Sheila) Fischer of French Lick, and Gene Fischer of Huntingburg; one brother, Jim Dearing of Evansville; one sister, Betty McGregor of Palatine, Illinois; and by (16) grandchildren, (30) great grandchildren and (7) great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mildred M. Fischer will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Friday, July 22, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Thursday; and also from 9:00-9:40 a.m., Friday morning. A parish rosary prayer vigil will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
