An elderly Jasper woman escaped injury when the car she was driving crashed through the front door of a northside Jasper laundry early Monday afternoon causing significant damage to the building’s entry way.

Jasper police say shortly before 12:30 pm, 80-year old Immogene Patterson of Jasper, pulled her passenger car into the parking lot at the Soap Opera Laundry located along the 200 block of West Second Street and say while pulling up to a parking spot, the car accelerated, jumped the curb and crashed through the front of the building.
Police say the car eventually came to a rest inside the building.

Police say the accident resulted in about $30,000 worth of damage to the laundry building, $3,000 to Patterson’s car.

No injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation.
