Officials with the town of Ferdinand say electricity is currently off for a large segment of the community this afternoon, due to a failed recloser at the Electric Sub-station.

Ferdinand Town Manager Chris James says electric crews are aware of the issue and are working to get repairs done and power restored as quickly as possible.

The affected area involves a portion of Main Street, along with the traffic light at 9th and Main Streets.

Ferdinand Police are monitoring traffic and assisting with traffic control.
