Martina B. Thewes, age 94 of Celestine passed away at 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017, in Brookside Village in Jasper.

She was born in Jasper, Indiana on July 3, 1922 to John and Mary (Seger) Werner. She married Alois
H. Thewes on June 17, 1941 in St Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2011.

Martina was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Isadore Parish – St. Celestine Campus and the St. Ann’s Ladies Sodality and the Celestine Community Club.

She retired from Aristokraft in Jasper where she had worked for 20 years.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening and playing cards.

Preceding her in death besides her husband is one son Jerry Thewes, One Daughter, Doris Fickas; Three brothers, Roman, Joseph and Walter Werner and two infant sisters.

Funeral services for Martina Thewes will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, (April 3, 2017) at St Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, IN, with burial to follow in St. Celestine Cemetery.

Friends may call from Noon to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Rosary will be held at 11:45 a.m. Sunday by the St. Ann’s Ladies Sodality.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Isadore Parish or to a favorite charity.
