Jasper – Memorial Hospital Foundation has announced this year’s recipients of four scholarships that have been endowed through the Dubois County Community Foundation (DCCF). Working in conjunction with the DCCF, a selection panel of hospital employees evaluated all the applications and selected the recipients. In all, nineteen scholarship applications were completed and submitted to the Memorial Hospital Foundation office by the March 1, 2017, deadline.

The scholarship recipients are Madison Weidenbenner who will graduate from Jasper High School this month, and she will receive the Doris A. Ackerman and Family Scholarship; Lauren Roos, a soon-to-be Southridge graduate who will receive the Mabel L. Kuebler Nursing Endowment; Jennifer Erwin who graduated from Forest Park High School in 1993, and she will receive the Mildred E. Schwinghammer Nursing Scholarship; and Rhegann Fetter who will graduate from Southridge High School in 2017, and will receive the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship. All of the students plan to pursue nursing as their careers.

In addition to the all the scholarship’s main criterion of pursuing a ASN or BSN, registered nurse designation, or a health related career, the following criteria were also be taken into consideration: the applicant’s desire to practice in the southern Indiana area, financial need, academic records (achievements and honors, grades, SAT scores, and attendance), and community involvement that indicates care and concern for people and the community.
